Nancy L. Martens, 86, was called home to be with her Lord on the morning of April 8, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Fr. Douglas Robertson officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hewitt. Visitation will from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Rembs Funeral Home and from 10:00am on Thursday until service time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. St. John’s Parish Council of Catholic Women will recite the rosary at 6:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Nancy was born on April 4, 1940, in Wausau to Leander Weisenberger and Helen Osborne. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1958. After graduation she worked at Three Sisters as a salesclerk. On July 2, 1960, she married the love of her life Elmer Martens Jr. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and a loving mother of a son and twin daughters. Once the children were school age, she worked at Figi’s as a key punch operator. When Nancy and Elmer retired, they enjoyed traveling stateside and abroad touring 25 countries and all 50 states. She loved spending time with family, crocheting, baking, playing Mrs. Claus, working outdoors in the garden and flower beds, feeding the birds, mowing lawn, snowblowing, helping others, and volunteering at church. She treasured making french toast big deal for her grandchildren and spending time with them when they visited. Holidays were always extra special for her as she delighted cooking a feast for her family, hiding her cloverleaf rolls so they didn’t disappear before the meal, and sharing time with family afterward. She found a quiet joy in leading and reciting the rosary along with attending Mass. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother along with her devotion and care for her husband.
She is survived by a son Jeffrey Martens, twin daughters Terry (Tom) Kongslien and Tammy (Tim) Burr,; grandchildren April Martens, Tiffany (Ray) Meyers, Ross (Sarah) Kongslien, Tyler Kongslien, Amanda (Andrew) Bro, Ashlyn Burr, Michael (Amanda) Foley Jr., Andrew Foley, Britny Foley, and Austin Spencer; nine great granchildren; and brother Thomas (Sharon) Weisenberger.
She was predeceased by her husband Elmer Jr., her parents Leander Weisenberger and Helen Osborne, stepmother June (Beseler) Weisenberger, sister Ann (John) Weigel, daughter-in-law Dawn (Jeffrey) Martens, and niece Rebecca Weisenberger.
The family would like to thank the staff of Three Oaks Health Services for their loving care of Nancy over the years and Compassus Hospice for caring for her in her final days.
