Myrtle Mae Schwantes 96 of Marshfield died peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Wells Nature View under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. She was born in Marshfield on January 20, 1917, the daughter of Louis and Laura (Matthews) Trossen. Louis Trossen was the owner of the original Ford dealership in the state of Wisconsin. She attended Marshfield Public Schools and graduated from McKinley High School in 1934. She graduated from Mosser Business College in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage to Fredrick L. Schwantes on December 31, 1941 in Chicago, IL. Fredrick died on October 30, 1983. Myrtle Mae was an exceptional business woman who was ahead of her times. She retired in 1983 from Mallegg Export Company in Chicago, IL and returned to her hometown of Marshfield, WI. She is survived by her only daughter, Deborah Diane (Tony) Domes of Roselle, IL; 2 grandsons, Thomas A. (Sophia) Meehan II of Elgin, IL and Jonathan S. (Kristen) Meehan of South Elgin, IL; 3 great grandchildren, Victoria Meehan, Thomas A. Meehan III and Jonathan S. Meehan Jr.; 1 sister-in-law, Mary Jane (Fehrenbach) Trossen; 1 nephew and 3 nieces. Besides her parents and husband, Fredrick, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Thomas F. Meehan Jr.; brothers, Donald, Burt, and Herbert Trossen, 2 sisters, Alyce (Trossen) Sersch and Evelyn (Trossen) Hausknecht; Family would like to thank the staff at Wells Nature View II for their care and support during her 7 year residency. Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Rembs Funeral Home with Pastor Gail Sowell officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.
