Monica Theresa Baierl, 74 of Marshfield died peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield with Fr. James Logan officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Visitations will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Wednesday at the church from 10am until service time. There will be a Sacred Heart PCCW rosary service at 4 pm Tuesday at the funeral home followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 pm.
Monica was born on April 4, 1940 in Stratford to Matthias and Thecla (Wagner) Kaiser. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Elementary School in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School. She then attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Marshfield and graduated with her nursing degree in 1961.
She was united in marriage to Richard W. "Rosie" Baierl on June 16, 1962 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford.
Monica worked two years in the birth center at St. Joseph's Hospital. She then took a nursing position at the Marshfield Care Center and worked there for 28 years retiring in 1994 with her last position being the assistant director of nursing.
Her home away from home was the cabin on Mead Lake; enjoying pontoon rides, campfires, and bluegill and crappie fishing. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, baking, counted cross stich and crossword puzzles. If she wasn't home or at the cabin she and the love of her life, Rosie, were at every sporting event her grandkids were playing in for the Columbus Catholic Dons. She loved watching them excel at football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country, track and softball. She was also the treasurer for the Christian Mothers at Sacred Heart parish for four years. She was also a devoted New York Yankees, Packer and Badger fan.
Monica is survived by her husband Richard, two sons, Joe (Nancy) Baierl and Alan (Laurie) Baierl both of Marshfield, 5 grandchildren, Alex, Abby, Annie, Kendra and Addison Baierl. She is further survived by her siblings, Sister Mae Kaiser, FSPA of LaCrosse, Mildred (Anthony) Eilers of Marshfield and Carol (Gary) Watson of Corvallis, OR, Joseph (Catherine) Kaiser of Stratford, Mark (Agnes) Kaiser of Stratford, Edward (Delphine) Kaiser of Appleton and Paul (Joan) Kaiser of Great Falls, MT; four sisters-in-law, Rosalie Baierl of Rothschild, Janice Breseman of Chili, Marion (Don) Brunette of Free Port, IL, Delores (Don) Moen of Sauk City; brothers-in-law, Jerry Baierl of Marshfield, Bernie (Judy) Baierl of Kenosha, WI.
Besides her parents and father and mother-in-law, Joe and Margaret (Williams) Baierl, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sister Joann Kaiser, FSPA, Sister Alice Kaiser FSPA and a brother Fr. Leonard G. Kaiser; two brothers-in-law Harvey Breseman and Art Baierl along with a sister-in-law Joan Baierl.
The family would like to thank the staff on 8th floor north and the Critical Care Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital for the care they provided Mom. A special thanks to Millie and Julie Eilers and Christi Tiry for sitting with mom and providing special loving attention during Mom's final hours you are true angels and very special people.
