Mildred I. Cherney, 98, Marshfield, died on Monday, September 28, 2015 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 am until service time at Rembs Funeral Home.
Mildred was born on January 30, 1917 in Princeton, MN, to Walter and Roxie (Kinsey) Garten. She attended Marshfield public schools and was a graduate of McKinley High School. She was united in marriage to Raymond J. Cherney on February 10, 1936 in Waukegan, IL. He died on August 7, 1996.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Drive, and worked for the Community Voting Board. She enjoyed going to the cottage, sewing, plastic canvas, gardening, reading, walking and rug hooking.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Slupski of Whitelaw, WI, Robert Cherney of Marshfield, Kathie Boucher of Guffey, CO, and Richard Cherney of Marshfield. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son, John in infancy, a granddaughter, Debra Slupski in infancy, and 2 brothers, Robert and Clifford Garten.
