Mike Klapatauskas, 87 of Marshfield died on Friday evening, February 3, 2012 at the Marshfield Care Center under the care of Ministry Home Hospice. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30am Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at St. Johns Catholic Church with Fr. Samuel Martin officiating. St. Johns Funeral Choir will provide the music along with Suzanne Golden as organist. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post # 54 of Marshfield. Visitations will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at the Rembs Funeral Home and again on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 am until time of service. There will be a combined rosary service by the Parish and Knights of Columbus at 6:30pm Tuesday at Rembs Funeral Home. Mike was born in Thorp on October 27, 1924 to Mike and Cazimera (Jazdowskas) Klapatauskas. He attended school at Eastside Butler School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre from1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Kitzhaber on June 19, 1946 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Greenwood. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2011. Mike farmed in the Thorp area, co-owned F & M Garage in Willard and worked in the mobile home industry. They managed apartment buildings in Stevens Point and at Twin Oaks in Marshfield where they lived since 1989. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, St. Johns Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, Knights of Columbus, John Eisen Council # 1799 and the American Legion Post # 54 of Marshfield. Mike volunteered at St. Johns and St. Josephs Hospital. Mike is survived by his wife, Lorraine, children Ray (LaVonne) Klapatauskas of Wausau, Donna (Vern) Vetterkind of Rothschild and Diane (John) Pergolski of Wausau; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is further survived by one brother Julius Klapatauskas of Thorp, three sisters Mary Fischer of Chicago, Jo Wind of Chicago and Agnes Debevec of Greenwood. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Charles and one in infancy and five sisters, Stella Dulinsky, Anne Klapatauskas, Martha Podobnik, Frances Vallone and Katie Gregorich.
