Michael J. Williams, 72, of Hewitt, passed away Thursday, May 7th 2026 in his daughter’s home where he had been staying for several years.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 14th at the Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield with Deacon Ray Draeger officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Auburndale. The family welcomes relatives and friends for a period of visitation from 1pm until time of service.

Michael was born September 25, 1953 in Marshfield, WI to Donald and Virginia (Pankratz) Williams. He attended local schools, graduating in 1972 from Marshfield High School. He was a carpenter by trade and had worked for Wausau Homes and Wick Building systems before moving to Michigan to work with his son-in-law remodeling homes. In 2020 he moved in with his daughter and her husband in Hewitt.

He was an avid fan of board games and family game nights. Michael was known to busy himself with puzzles, scratch-offs, and building models. He was a talented dart player before a stroke suggested he switch to playing pool. Michael is also lovingly remembered for his fondness for Pepsi and donuts.

Michael is survived by his children Jessica (Jon) Fritz of Hewitt, Kristopher Williams of Michigan, and step-child Amber Novakoski of Michigan. Grandchildren: Zachary Olsen and Tori Fritz, and step-grandchildren: Alexandria, Ambrella, Mayoree, and Raymond Novakoski. He is further survived by his father Donald Williams of Marshfield, and his siblings: Alan Williams of Plymouth, Steven Williams of Greenwood, Gerald (Kimberly) Williams of Stratford, Mark Williams of Sheboygan Falls, Paul (Dawn) Williams of Sheboygan Falls, Lisa (Mark Block) Baumgartner of Spencer, and Robert (Krisan) Williams of Marshfield. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia, son-in-law Lucas Olsen, Nephew Tyler Williams, sister-in-law Karen (Carter) Williams, and grandparents: John & Anna Pankratz and Ben & Hilda Williams.
