Mike was born on August 30, 1933 in Stratford, the son of Glenn and Helen (Alt) Hughes. He and Joan M. Lindner were united in marriage on May 11, 1954 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Greenwood. Mike owned and operated Hughes Real Estate in Marshfield for forty years until his retirement. Mike always lived life to the fullest and enjoyed simple things that people sometimes overlook like a shared laugh or a quiet (or not) conversation. In addition to being a great husband, father and grandfather, Mike was always a great listener. Mike celebrated people and their stories and became a treasured friend to a wide circle of people. Mike gave advice based on the Word of God and always made decisions with the thought of morality and kindness at the forefront. He did what was right regardless of what was popular or in someone's obvious benefit, including his own. He fought for what he believed in and was a good man to have in your corner. If you needed to call someone for help, Mike was the first one on the list. The world is a better place because Mike lived fully a life of conviction in Faith, Family and Friends. He is survived by his wife, Joan and their children, Maureen Draxler of Atlanta, GA, Michael (Kathleen) Hughes, Jr. of St. Paul, MN, Colleen (Ken) Statz of Chicago, Sheila (Patrick) Keenan of St. Paul, MN, and Peg (Peter) OMalley of Mequon.
