Obituary

Meta E. Wegner, 90, died on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Marshfield Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 27, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville, with Rev. Gary Markworth officiating. Burial will take place in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Town of Richfield, Wood County, and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville and from 10:00 am until service time on Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Meta was born on October 6, 1924 in Pittsville, the daughter of Adolph and Amalia (Marquardt) Schiller and attended Good Cheer School and Pittsville High School. After her education she was employed at Allis Chalmers and then Swiss Rectifier in West Allis and later at Eagle knitting Mills in Milwaukee. She was united in marriage to Charles A. Wegner on April 23, 1949 in Pittsville. The Wegner's farmed in the Town of Hiles where Meta was a housewife and mother with dearly loved husband and children for 26 years. The Wegner's then enjoyed 23 years of retirement in Eagle River, Wisconsin. While there, she enjoyed walking 3 miles daily, crocheting, baking, gardening and ice fishing. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville, had served as Wallace School Clerk and served on the Wallace School board in the Town of Hiles. She is survived by her Children, Gerald (Jane) Wegner of Pittsville, Walter (Gloria) Wegner of Pittsville, Charlene (Gary) McDonald of Hewitt, Edward (Starla) Wegner of Marshfield, Alek (Diane) Wegner of Marshfield, Louis ( Betty Brandl ) Wegner of Pittsville William (Jane) Wegner of Pittsville, and Robert (Roxanne) Wegner of Marshfield. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Charles on April 9, 1998, a grandson, and sisters, Ruth Anderson and Amalia "Molly" Olson, and a brother, Richard Schiller of Pittsville. Memorials may be designated in her name to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Marshfield Medical Foundation for Rheumatoid Arthritis research. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
