Melvin A. Severt, Jr., 63, Marshfield, died with his loving family by his side on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:30 am until service time at St. John's Catholic Church. Mel was born on May 21, 1950 in Marshfield, the son of Melvin F. and Eleanor (Spatz) Severt, Sr. and was a 1969 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. He married Kay Strey on April 29, 1972 in Marshfield. Mel had been employed at Hub City Foods, which later became Fleming Company. He then worked at Foremost Farms until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, camping, cutting firewood, motorcycling and spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Kay and their children, Jeff (friend – Danielle Saindon) Severt and Kelly (Mike) Pilsner. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Austin Arnburg, Trey Severt, Alex Pilsner and Riley Pilsner. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Bill (Betty) Severt, LeAnn (Ralph) Fitzgerald, Linda (friend – Jim Mann) Kundinger, Fred (Jana) Severt, Paul (Tracy) Severt, and Pete (Dawn) Severt and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Eleanor Severt and a sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Louis Anderson and a brother-in-law, John Kundinger.
