Obituary

Melba E. Fehrenbach, 88, Marshfield, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Hewitt House, C.B.R.F. in Hewitt. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 8, 2011 at Rembs Funeral Home, with Rev. James Logan officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 9:00 am until service time at Rembs Funeral Home. Melba was born on February 9, 1923 in Lake Norden, South Dakota to Raymond and Gertrude (McMillan) Dunn. She was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. She married Norman H. Fehrenbach on April 19, 1952 in Marshfield. He died on November 11, 1993. Melba was employed at Marshfield Clinic Nephrology Department as an appointment coordinator until joining her husband in Norms Coffee Cup Restaurant. She then worked at Central State Bank and Trust. Melba and Norm enjoyed traveling and after Norms passing in 1993 she enjoyed traveling with her sister, Marge. Melba and Marge also loved being social, hosting many card parties and attending cultural events. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. During elections she worked at the polling sites, and as a volunteer at St. Josephs Hospital Gift Shop, and at many other community events. Family was most important to Melba. Her home and kitchen reflected her loving and generous nature and was always filled with much laughter, spirited conversation, fabulous home cooked meals and treats. All were welcome! She is survived by seven children and sixteen grandchildren, Marsha (Robert) Austin of Janesville, and their children, Greg, Debra and Colleen; Dale (Barbara) Fehrenbach of Marshfield, and their children, Heather and Kurt; Lucia (Doug) Haupt of Stratford, and their children, Ron, Nathan, Jacob and Matthew; Patricia Jones of New York City; Brian (Ellen) Fehrenbach of Delafield, and their children, Christopher and Alysse; Paul (Vicki) Fehrenbach of Germantown, and their children, Alex, Dan and Luke; and Eric (Sue) Fehrenbach of Marshfield and their children, Ellie and Emalee. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Gerri Warner of New Mexico, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Bernice Fehrenbach, Marion Fehrenbach, Mary Jane Trossen, Joan Wenzel, Charlotte Dunn and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Merlin and Harry Dunn, and three sisters, Norma Dunn, Fran Watts and Marjorie Schneider. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in her name to the Marshfield Medical Foundation for Alzheimers research.
