Max P. Nelles, 91, Marshfield, died on Monday, December 1, 2014 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Savarimuthu Selvaraj officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 8:30 am on Saturday until service time at Sacred Heart Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Max was born on January 20, 1923 in Bakerville, Wisconsin to Mathew and Beata (Hoffman) Nelles and was a 1941 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. On June 9, 1947 he married Marianne T. Konen in Pierz, Minnesota. She died on August 21, 2008.
Max had been employed at Montgomery Ward in various locations for 28 years. He then was employed at Haertel Monument in Stevens Point for 10 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was an adult Mass Server. He also was a member of The Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799, The American Legion Post 54, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Badger Aerie #624.
Max is survived by a son and a daughter, Lynn (Sharon) Nelles of Des Moines, IA, and Linda (Bob) Babler of Rothschild. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Meghann (Dave) Nelles Dahlstrom, Jason Nelles, David (Meaghan) Nelles, Kelly (Neal) Heckendorf, and Allison (Sam) Williams and 2 great grandchildren, Maren Heckendorf and Evan Heckendorf. He is further survived by a special friend, Alberta Strey.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
