Matthew D. Smith,58, Madison, died on Sunday, August 2, 2015. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville, with Rev. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joachim Cemetery. Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Matthew was born on October 5, 1956 in Marshfield to John and Corrine (Ferk) Smith. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Greenwood, Our Lady of Peace Parochial School, and the University of Wisconsin, Wood County, both in Marshfield and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Matthew was employed at a hospital for the State of Wisconsin. He is survived by his father, Dr. John Smith of Marshfield, and 2 brothers John (Faith) Smith, Jr. of Puyallup, WA and Michael (Kris) Smith of Milwaukee. He is also survived by 2 nieces and a nephew, Jennifer and Kelly Smith and Kenneth Schneider. He was predeceased by his mother, a brother, Mark and a sister, Maria.
