Mary A. Swensen, 86, Marshfield, WI passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 29, 2021. A memorial service will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield, WI where the visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Reverend Lourdes Magalhaes will officiate. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Mary was born January 12, 1935 in Adams, Wisconsin to Bertrum and Gladys (Drinkwater) Burdick. She attended school in the Adams area until she contracted polio as a teenager. Following her recovery she had worked in Chicago as a nanny and as a waitress. She married Gerald Swensen June 26, 1958 in Adams/Friendship and shortly after they moved to Gerald's parents farm which they later bought. Gerald later died March 11, 2000. She enjoyed the role of Farm Wife for over thirty years until they retired. In her later years Mary was a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul, bowled in a senior league, and travelled on many bus tours. Mary is survived by her children: Gerry Swensen of Pittsville, Patricia (Stephen Kalmbacher) Swensen of Marshfield, Dave (Cheryl) Swensen of Auburndale, Rose (Tim) Jicinsky of Marshfield, Larry (fiancé Amanda Follen) Swensen of Stratford, and Jim (Cari) Swensen of Sherry. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her brother Edwin (Vernie) Burdick. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Roman & John, and a brother Walter Burdick.
