Mary Kay Merkel, 62 of Marshfield died on Monday, May 31, 2011 at her home. Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be 11am Friday, June 3, 2011 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Don Meuret officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. Family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 10am until time of the services on Friday. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Mary Kay was born on February 23, 1949 in Marshfield to Karl and Betty (Pabst) Merkel. Mary Kay attended Our Lady of Peace grade school and Columbus High School. Her college education included UW-St Pt, MSTC and Taylor County Teachers College. Mary Kay was united in marriage to Alvin J Ringquist on June 4, 1982. He preceded her in death Feb.21, 2006. Four step-children survive. She was employed for many years as the night supervisor at the Woodfield Suites Hotel. Prior to that she worked at Merkel Company and also at Badger Fixtures, Inc. Mary Kay was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed socializing with the Marshfield Area Solo Club and visiting the Casino. In the family Mary Kay was affectionately known as "Marykins." Mary is survived by her parents Karl and Betty Merkel of Marshfield, one sister Patricia (Don) Kaiser of Marshfield; four brothers, Richard (Nancy) Merkel of Marshfield, Tom (Lisa Baeten) Merkel of Marshfield, K. Michael Merkel of Marshfield and Bob (Anne) Merkel of Marshfield. She is survived by many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Ringquist and a brother John Merkel.
