Mary Nancy (Dickson) Kohel 80, died at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital on Sunday April 19, 2015.
The funeral will be at 11 AM on Thursday April 23, 2015 at Zion Methodist Church in Marshfield with Pastor Michael Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Richfield, Wood County.
The visitation will be Wednesday April 22, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield and again on Thursday at the church from 10AM until time of service.
She was born on December 23, 1934 in Pittsville Wisconsin to Leo and Gladys (Powell) Dickson. Mary graduated from Pittsville High School and attended Mid-State Technical College in child day care.
On September 6, 1954 she married Robert Benedict Kohel. They were happily married for 43 years. Robert died in 1996.
Mary loved raising and teaching children. She raised six children. She took care of and taught many other children. Mary taught Sunday school at the Presbyterian Church in Marshfield for 30 plus years. She was a 4-H leader and a Campfire Girl leader for several years. The children she worked with in day care and her church and other community activities became a part of her family. Mary was involved in many groups and service work at her church such as deacons and women's circle.
She was an avid vegetable and fruit gardener. She enjoyed fishing and camping. Mary enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by three daughters; Elaine (Toney) Bookhart of Marshfield WI, Rhonda (Steve) Helmke of Stratford WI and Lisa Hansen of Marshfield WI; two sons Michael (Vangie) Kohel of Aurora CO and Kirk (Jennifer) Kohel of Marshfield; grandchildren William Helmke, Joseph Bilgrien, Jacob Hansen, Cyrus Kohel, Cedric Kohel and Caellum Kohel; great-grandchildren Hunter Bilgrien and Marrianne Bilgrien. She is further survived by a brother Ronald Dickson of Conrad, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Kohel, daughter Cynthia Kohel, and two brothers Grant and James Dickson.
