Mary E. Garrels, 67, Pittsville, died on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Veedum Moravian Church, Pittsville with Rev. Wanda Veldman officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville and on Monday from 10:00 am until service time at the church.
Mary was born on May 31, 1948 in Wisconsin Rapids to Elmer and Anna (Urban) Garrels. She attended Veedum Grade school for 6 years and continued her education and graduated from Pittsville High School in 1966. She was employed at the bank in Pittsville for 42 years until her retirement.
Mary was a lifelong member of Veedum Moravian Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for 50 years and served on the board. She was a member of the Pittsville Historical Society and as a youth had been active in 4-H. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, reading, watching wildlife and watching the Packers and Brewers.
She is survived by a sister, Judy (Sylvester) Flowers of Greenfield, IN and a brother, Lee (Karen) Garrels of Pittsville. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, Jessica Garrels, Samantha Garrels, Laney Garrels, Todd (Rebecca) Flowers, Eileen (Rick) Taylor, and Connie Flowers, 7 great nieces and nephews, 2 great great nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents.
