Obituary

Mary G. Draxler, 99, Marshfield, and formerly of Wakefield, MI, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2014. The former Mary Kohlbeck was born on January 17, 1915, in the Town of Day, Marathon County, Wisconsin, to Frank and Mary (Schulhauser) Kohlbeck. She attended St. Andrew's parochial school in Rozellville, WI and graduated from Wausau High School, Wausau, WI. After graduation, she was employed in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois. She married Casper Draxler on June 4, 1935, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Rozellville. The couple then moved to Wakefield, MI. Mary and Cas celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary in 1985. Casper died on July 8, 1989. In 1992, Mary moved to Marathon to help her nephew on his ginseng farm. After her nephew died, Mary moved to Stratford. In 1995, Mary moved to Marshfield and resided at Cedar Rail Retirement Community until moving to Wells Nature View Assisted Living, and then to Three Oaks Nursing home. While living in Wakefield, Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was very active in the Women's Parish Council of Catholic Women, chairing many church activities. She also was an expert seamstress and did professional sewing for many people. While residing in Marshfield, she was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Mary loved our Lord very much. She had a deep and loving concern for helping people in need. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones. She is survived by four sons: Leon, Lake Tapps, WA, Richard, San Francisco, CA, Daniel (Alla), Baxter Springs, KS, and James (Amy), Seattle, WA, and a daughter, Audrey (Munir) Orgun, Bellevue, WA; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews living in the Marshfield area. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cas; daughters, Nancy, in 1957 and Sally, in 2013; and a son, Bernard, in 2013; two grandchildren, one sister, Victoria, and five brothers, Frank, Charles, George, William and Paul. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield, WI, with Rev. Samuel Martin Officiating. There will be an hour of visitation on Saturday from 9:30 am until service time at St. John's Catholic Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
