Obituary

Mary Ann Poplawski, 85, Weston,WI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center. She was surrounded by her family. A private burial will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery in Hewitt, WI. A celebration of life mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston, WI on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 1pm. A luncheon will follow immediately after at Mountain Bay Banquet Center/Weston Lanes, Weston, WI. Mary Ann was born on November 28, 1935 in Spencer, WI to Myron and Nettie (Gliniecki) Zygarlicke. She married the love of her life Theodore (Ted) F. Poplawski on September 1, 1962 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield, WI. They resided in Cicero, IL for 39 years until his death in 2001. She relocated closer to her family in Weston, WI in 2002. Mary Ann worked at Jerry's Bakery, then Karau's Bakery where she met Ted. She was a very accomplished baker and cooked all her life. Her homemade pies were fabulous and her mostaccioli sauce was legendary. Her hobbies included sewing, golfing and bowling. She and Ted won many golf and bowling tournaments. Late night family card games of Smear will be remembered fondly. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed trips to the casino. She was a life-long Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. Her knowledge of all sports was phenomenal. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Michele (Marshall) Pochay of Wood Dale, IL, son, Ted (Mary) Poplawski of Weston, and daughter, Diane Poplawski-Munguia of Weston, 6 grandchildren, Colleen (Casey) Aaron of Bentonville, AR, JJ (Shawna) Munguia of Wausau, Corey Pochay of Wood Dale, IL, Jared Yauch of Wausau, TJ Poplawski of Wausau and Nicole (Stephen) Soja of Wausau, 4 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Eliana, Milania, Preston, and 1 great grandchild on the way. She is further survived by brothers and sisters, Wanda (Eugene) Hamus, Myron (Donna) Zygarlicke, Eugene (Marge) Zygarlicke, Peter (Mary Carol) Zygarlicke, Tom (Joan) Zygarlicke, Bonnie (Jerome) Bauer and Jim (Sandy) Zygarlicke, and sister-in-law Lois Zygarlicke. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Jerry and William "Billy" Zygarlicke, and sister-in-law Nancy Zygarlicke.
