Martha C. Eckes, 87, Marshfield, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Wells Nature View Assisted Living on South Apple Avenue, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Chris Schwanz officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 am until service time at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Martha was born on December 7, 1924 in Granton, the daughter of Alonzo and Lorina (Harp) Bliven. She attended Marshfield elementary schools and Marshfield Senior High School. She and Melvin A. Eckes were married on April 27, 1943 in Wausau. He died on January 12, 1976. Martha had been employed at Silverplex, Central Cheese, and Figi's, all in Marshfield. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and puzzles. She is survived by her children, Robert (Donna) Eckes of Greenwood, Gloria (Bob) Post of Marshfield, and Marlene (Richard) Hofmann of Germantown. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Kevin Eckes and five sisters and six brothers.
