Obituary

Marlene Ann Steinbach, 84, Pittsville, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, November 4th, 2026

A memorial service will be held at 11am Tuesday, November 10th at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home with Deacon Ray Draeger officiating. The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitation from 9am until time of service.

Marlene was born August 20, 1942 in Milwaukee to Edward and Dorothy (Finkler) Steinbach. She later met Fred Hjalmer, and they spent 30+ years together. They were united in marriage on February 13, 2006.

She LOVED horses! Marlene was involved with raising horses since she was a girl. She had donated and helped out with Jeremiah’s Crossing and the Midwest Horse Rescue whenever possible. Marlene and Fred enjoyed camping and travelling together, especially to destinations out west.

Marlene is survived by her step-children, Rene (James) Rataczak, Brad (Camille) Tiegs, and step-grandchildren, Nolan, Caden, Lillian, and Scarlett. She is further missed by her friends and neighbors Nicole Fox and Amanda Oliver, and her dear horses Duke & Blue, and her dog Gracie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Fred.
