Obituary

Mark Lelonek, age 61 of Lac du Flambeau passed away suddenly on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Marshfield Medical Center while battling Blastomycosis. Mark was born on December 31, 1958 to Irene (Sassi) Lelonek. He grew up in Oconomowoc, WI and graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1977. After graduation he ventured into the plastics and industrial maintenance field and eventually became the service manager for a large Japanese injection molding company which took him all over the world including Japan, Taiwan, Venezuela, Mexico, and Italy. In 1983 he married his high school sweetheart Sandie in Oconomowoc and they moved to the Burlington area. This is where they started their family and had three wonderful sons. In 1994 his next adventure began when he bought the Cross Trails Motel and Restaurant in Minocqua, Wisconsin, where he and his dad ran the motel and restaurant until it was sold in 1999. After that he pursued many different opportunities in retail including time at Pukalls, Menards and Pamida. After working in retail, he decided to become an insurance adjustor which allowed him to be his own boss and allowed him to travel to different parts of the country. Mark enjoyed spending time with new people and could make a friend with everyone he met. He enjoyed living in the Northwoods and loved to go fishing, hunting, golfing, playing any and all card games and was on many different bowling leagues in the area. He was a diehard Packer, Brewers, Bucks and Badger fan. He loved watching his boys grow up in the Northwoods and enjoyed watching them in all their sporting events over the years. His greatest accomplishment was teaching his boys to hunt, fish and work on their many cars. He was a man that could fix almost anything and proved that time and time again. Mark had many health challenges in recent years but was able to weather those challenges with intelligence and tenacity. Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandie and his three sons, John Lelonek (Victoria), TJ Lelonek and Jacob Lelonek (Ruby) and four grandchildren, John, Alice, Irys and Wesleigh. His brother Tony Wiggins (Judy) and brother Eugene Townsend (Hilary). The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at the Critical Care Unit at Marshfield Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided to Mark during his last few weeks. At this time no formal services will be held. The family will notify loved ones in the future of a small gathering to celebrate Mark's life and share the wonderful memories we have.
