Obituary

Marit E. Erickson, 91 of Junction City died on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the home of her daughter Kathy Metzler in Junction City. Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, December 26, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Junction City with Pastor Rev. Dr. Timothy Roser officiating. Burial will be in Runkel Cemetery, town of Eau Pleine, Portage County, WI with grandsons as pallbearers. Visitations will be from 8:30am Thursday at the church until service time. Marit was born in Junction City on July 22, 1922 to Albert and Agnes (Tufte) Mayer. She attended Junction City Public School, graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in Stevens Point and also Stevens Point Normal School. She was united in marriage to Earl A. Erickson on October 27, 1945 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Junction City. Earl died on September 14, 2006. Marit was very active in her church and was the church organist from age 16 until 5 years ago. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, quilting, gardening, volunteering her time and especially her grand and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Leif (Mary) Erickson of Junction City, Katherine (Les) Metzler of Junction City, Karen (Roger) Dobbs of Wisconsin Rapids and David (Wendi) Erickson of Junction City; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren with two more expected. She is further survived by her sister Norma (Hugh) Curtis of Wausau. Besides her parents and husband Earl, she was preceded in death by a son Robert. Family would like to thank Ministry Home Hospice nurses, Bonnie and Dana. In Lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Ladies Aid of the church.
