Treasured wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Marilyn Marlene Burger, 88, Marshfield, entered into eternal life with Christ on September 12, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay with her family by her side.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 29 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield with Reverend Chris Schwanz officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. A livestream will be available on Marilyn’s obituary page at the time of service. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Marilyn was born on July 22, 1938, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, the only child of Arnold and Clara (Korth) Federwitz. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Marshfield Senior High School. After graduating in 1956, Marilyn began her career at Berg Equipment Company. Following time in Madison working at Madison Gas & Electric, she embarked on a new adventure in San Francisco where she was employed by Pacific Gas & Electric and the Bank of California. On October 28, 1963, she was united in marriage to David Burger at St. John the Baptist Church in Wuertzberg, Wisconsin. The newlyweds made their first home in Thailand where David served as the Northeast regional representative for the Peace Corps and where their first daughter was born. Upon their return to the States two years later, Marilyn and David first lived in Edgar, then settled in Marshfield in 1967 to raise their family.

After several years as a full-time homemaker, Marilyn joined David and their business partners in 1985 to open The Cabinet Studio, a custom home construction and kitchen remodeling company. Over the years, she volunteered for the United Way, Dairyfest, Meals on Wheels, the Altrusa Club (as Treasurer), and as a Sunday school teacher. A faithful lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marilyn was a member of numerous committees throughout the years and served as president of the Altar Circle.

A devoted mother of four, Marilyn was the heart of her home and family, always generous with her love, guidance, and encouragement. She cherished her 11 grandchildren and found immense pride and joy in their unique abilities and accomplishments. Marilyn looked forward to attending their school events and welcoming them for holidays and extended summer visits. Baking favorite recipes together and taking outings to “Camp Nutwood” were some of the special times they shared. She enjoyed gardening, embroidering gifts for her family, and entertaining friends and relatives at the home she and her husband designed and built together.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 62 years David; her adoring children Jennifer (Gregory) Grose of Sheboygan, Timothy (Jill) Burger of Sugar Hill, NH, Stephanie (Patrick) Stoa of Green Bay and Melissa Burger of Middleton; and her dear grandchildren Andrew, Amelia and Olivia Grose; Rosalyn, Anthony, Joseph, Eleanor, Meredith and Paul Stoa; Quincy and Evelyn Burger. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Cecilia Johnson of Edgar and Theresa David of Marshfield, along with many friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
