Marie A. Gerl, 84, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Rembs Funeral Home where visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. James Weighner will officiate. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will take place at Corpus Christi Cemetery, Bakerville, at a later date. Marie was born on July 8, 1936 in Willard to Joseph, Sr. and Mary Ann (Debevec) Rakovec. She graduated from Columbus Catholic High School. She was united in marriage to James F. Gerl, Sr. in 1957. They later divorced. She worked at Marshfield Homes from 1969 until 1981 and then as a custodian for the Marshfield School District until her retirement in 1999. She was a parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church and a member of the PCCW. Marie was an avid seamstress and had a passion for wildlife, word searches, and reading. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Doris (Dean) Scott, Thomas (Kay) Gerl, Edward (Connie) Gerl, June Kelz, and Rose (Ronald) Kundinger. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, and 1 step great great grandchild. She is further survived by her siblings, Joseph (Marcy) Rakovec, Theresa Rakovec, John (Nancy) Rakovec, Fran Utne, Clara (John) Schiller, Anton Rakovec and Daniel (Sally) Rakovec and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, James F. Gerl, Jr. in infancy, and sister, Agnes J. Rakovec.
