Marie Theresa Derge, 97, of Verona, Wisconsin, formerly of Marshfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, December 20, 2013 at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield with her grandchildren acting as pallbearers. Visitations will be on Monday at the church from 9am until time of service. Marie was born on February 19, 1916, in Stratford to Joseph and Theresa (Eisner) Schroepfer. She was united in marriage to Ferdinand A. Derge on September 26, 1939 in Wurzberg, Marathon County, WI. Ferdinand died on March 6, 1987. Marie is survived by her children, Barbara (Charles) Pickhardt of Madison; Ruth Pabich of St. Paul, MN; William (Sandra) Derge of Gaithersburg, MD; Daniel (Susan) Derge of Fond du Lac; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Derge of West Hills, CA; 11 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas in 2003, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Marie was a loving and loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, and sewing. She generously volunteered for many years as a Gray Lady at St Joseph's Hospital, with the Lady Knights, and with Soup and Socks. She was giving in every way. Memorials may be designated to St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
