Margaret Elizabeth Weisz, nee Lueth, died on September 22, 2017 at the Marshfield Medical Center. She is deeply missed.
Margaret was born at home on the family farm on December 27, 1920 to her parents Henry C. Lueth and Martha H. Lueth, nee Bokemper. She grew-up on the family farm and attended the Lone Star, one-room country school until the 8th grade when she transferred to Emerson High School where she graduated with honors. Margaret then moved to Sioux City, Iowa to further her education. She attended the National Business Training College and received her Business Degree.
On September 20, 1941 Margaret and Paul Jay Weisz were united in marriage. Paul went into the U.S. Marines to serve his country during WWII and during that time, Margaret worked for State Finance Company in Sioux City, Iowa. When Paul returned from the South Pacific battles, Margaret moved with him to Providence, Rhode Island where he was on military duty at Quonset Point in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island in the event of further enemy attack. Upon Paul's final discharge from the U.S. Marine Corp., they returned to Sioux City, Iowa to work and raise a family. They had one daughter, Christy Margaret Weisz and she survives her parents and lives in Marshfield, WI.
Margaret worked for many years in the financial, legal and real estate industries. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a Sunday School Teacher, Girl Scout Leader, Secretary for the Parent Teacher Association, and a member of the National Business Women's Association.
After the death of her husband, Margaret moved to Marshfield, Wisconsin to be near her daughter. Together they had many adventures, traveled in the U.S. and Europe and enjoyed the beauty of Wisconsin.
Margaret loved bright colors, birds, trees, flowers, music, dancing and art. She was a talented painter and wrote poetry that was published. She sang a lovely second soprano and she could sew beautiful clothes especially for her daughter. She made winning apple pies, breads and rolls. She and Paul often cooked together and enjoyed making good food for other people. She loved going to supper at Perkins and we managed it several times a week much to her delight.
Margaret had a keen sense of humor, the ability to find good in people and a loving devotion to her family and friends. She was, along with my father Paul, the two most courageous persons I have even known. She died peacefully in her daughter, Christy's arms.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Dr. Christy Margaret Weisz, her sisters Betty Ann Zeisler and Janet Lamp, brother-in-law Leon Lamp and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Martha Lueth, parent's in-law Emelia and Christopher Weisz, her granddaughter Amelia, husband Paul, sister Lucille Voss, and brothers Elmer Lueth and Robert Lueth.
Margaret was my beautiful mother. She gave me a rock to stand on, hope when mine faltered and a love to endure forever. She loved her family and friends and we loved her.
A life celebration for Margaret will be held at a later date and announced in the News Herald. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa beside her husband and soul mate, Paul Weisz.
"May the Lord watch between us when we are parted, one from the other." (Genesis 31:49)
