Margaret I. (Laessig) Nelson, 78, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Marshfield Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Dan Schoessow officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866 at the church following the service. Margaret was born on November 21, 1941 in Stratford, to Earl and Jennie (Kohl) Laessig and was a graduate of Stratford High School. She was a veteran of the United States Army. She married Robert A. Nelson and they later divorced. She had been employed at Weyerhaeuser Company in Marshfield for over 25 years until her retirement. Margaret was an avid reader and enjoyed BINGO and collecting jewelry. She is survived by her son, Kevin Nelson of Eau Claire, her daughter, Shannon Nelson of Colby and a granddaughter, Kami Nelson. She is further survived by her siblings, Steve (Norene) Laessig, Janice (Norbert) Lee, Marty Laessig, Larry (Marge) Laessig, Barbara Lafleur, Tim (Joan) Laessig, Caroline (Jerry) Pretsch, Sylvia Pangborn, Phyllis Doll and Joyce Pai and her sister-in-laws Donna Laessig and Ardis Laessig. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister in infancy and brothers, Jerry, Neil and Arnie Laessig.
