Obituary

Mabel K. Lewallen, 89, of Marshfield, entered eternal life on Saturday, December 10th, 2011, at her home, where she was surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 14th, 2011, at Christ Lutheran Church Marshfield. Rev. Mark A. Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday prior to the services at Christ Lutheran Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Mabel Lewallen was born December 18th, 1921, in Fond du Lac County, the daughter of William and Katherine (Wagner) Schmidt. She attended St. Pauls Lutheran Parochial School, St. Ann Public School, and Elkhart Lake High School. She came to Marshfield in 1942 and was a bookkeeper for Clover Cream Dairy until her marriage to Russell Lewallen. She served as the bookkeeper for their business, Culligan Soft Water Inc. of Marshfield, until retirement in 1975. Mabel and her husband spent the next 25 years wintering in Sarasota, Florida. She was a choir member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sarasota. Mrs. Lewallen was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a choir member for many years. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She is survived by a daughter, Lynne (Mike) Gerlicher of Orono, Minnesota; a son, David (Joni) Lewallen of California; two step grandsons, Mark and Tim (Cheryl) Gerlicher; nieces, Delores (George) Raeder, Donna Ann (Gary) Resemious, Merlene (Norman) Wightman, Darlene (Don) McEacheron, Janet Klug, Betty Miller; a nephew, Ronald (Celine) Schmidt; and a cousin, Richard Wagner. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Bernard, Raymond, Edwin and Harold Schmidt, and their wives as well as a nephew, Bill Schmidt. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Marshfield Clinic and Ministry St. Josephs Hospital Palliative Care and Ministry Home Hospice. Memorials may be designated in her name to Christ Lutheran Church and to Ministry St. Josephs Hospital Palliative Care and Ministry Home Hospice. Mabel was a wonderful wife, mother and caregiver. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
