Lynette D. "Nettie" Barrett, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Marshfield Health Services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 30, 2023, at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Daniel Thelen officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 am until service time at St. John's Catholic Church. St. John's Parish Council of Catholic Women will recite the rosary at 8:30 am on Monday at the church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Lynette was born on March 1, 1921, in Marshfield, to Herman and Bertha (Spearbecker) Sommers and was a graduate of Purdy High School, Marshfield. She was united in marriage to James F. "Chief" Barrett on September 24, 1946, at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. He died on April 16, 1992.
Nettie resided in Marshfield, LaCrosse, Eau Claire, Marion, Iowa and again in Marshfield, due to her husband's career.
Nettie was a kindhearted person and known for her friendly personality.
She is survived by a son Mark Barrett and a daughter-in-law Barbara Barrett, both of Marshfield. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Ben, Jeremy (fiance – Amy Elmhorst), Michael (Chandra) and Luke (Heather) Barrett, ten great grandchildren Jordan, Savannah, Noah, Emily, Keegan, Tori, Keelyan, Mariah, Meghan and Hailey and one great great grandson Jackson. She is further survived by a niece Barbara Borens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons, Patrick and Steven Barrett, and a sister Evelyn (Ralph) Borens.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Marshfield Health Services, Mike and Laurie Jasurda at Guiding Hand Assisted Living, and Marilyn and Sue at Marshfield Area Respite Care Center.
Memorials may be designated to St. John's Catholic Church or Marshfield Area Respite Care Center.
