On October 2, 2021 at 8:45 pm LuVerne "Midge" Eckes, 92 embarked on a trip to meet up with her dearly beloved husband, Cliff Eckes.
She was born on November 28, 1928 in Richfield, Wisconsin, to Harvey and Nellie (Hanifin) Pleckham. She graduated in 1946 from Marshfield Senior High School. She married Clifford Eckes on April 19, 1951 at St. John's Catholic Church and they were married for 57 years until his death on December 20, 2008.
Midge is survived by her four children and their families, Larry "Woody" (Connie) Eckes of Spencer. Jason (Jennifer) Eckes of Marshfield, daughter Berkley, Amber (Shawn) Knoche of Mazomanie, daughter Ande, son Everett. Abraham (Whitney) Eckes of Spencer, son Hudson. Nicole (Jeff) Fischer of Rozellville, sons Brodes, Greyson and Liam, daughter Lissa. Mary Ann Eckes of Eau Claire, Son Gene (Wendy) Wagner, grandson Cliffy Wagner. Janie (Jeff) Krasselt of Chili. Sons Jared (Abby) of Marshfield, daughter Kinley, Joel (Olivia) of Chili, daughters River and Everly, Jace (Kelsie) of Marshfield. Cliff (Kim) Eckes, Alex and Zoey of Marshfield, son Brandon (Leslie) Duellman of Marshfield, daughter Haylen, sons Brantley and Brayson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Jordan Krasselt, a son-in-law, Rick Pfahning and her brothers, Tom, Will and Ray Pleckham.
Midge went with Cliff to most of the racing events he participated in throughout the years, from racing on the sands of Daytona Beach, Florida in 1952 up through 2006 Davenport, Iowa vintage flattrack cycle races. Together they ran Cliffs Cycle Service in Marshfield until his passing when their sons took the reins of the business. In her younger years she was an excellent dancer. She enjoyed family get togethers and watching her kids, grandkids and great grandkids grow up. "Boy, they sure get big quick!" she would say as she paged through her extensive photo albums. In her later years she would marvel at all the birthday cards and phone calls she received from family and friends. Her chocolate chip cookies and Christmas bingo became a long standing family tradition. She was a lifelong Brewers, Packers and Badgers fan. She called 412 West Cleveland home until her passing. We were lucky to have her so long. Rest in peace mom.
A Celebration of Life will be October 15, 2021 at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 9:30 am until the service at 11:00 am.
