Obituary

Lorraine E. Klapatauskas, 88, Marshfield, died on Saturday, August 2, 2014 the House of The Dove in Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 4pm-8pm Tuesday at Rembs Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 9:30 am until service time at St. John's Catholic Church. St. John's Parish and St. John's Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary service at 4pm, American Legion Auxiliary memorial service at 6pm followed by the Knights of Columbus and Lady Knights rosary service at 6:30pm all at the funeral home. Lorraine was born on March 11, 1926 in Greenwood to Lawrence and Mabel (McDowell) Kitzhaber. She attended St. Mary's Parochial School, Greenwood and was a graduate of Greenwood High School. She was united in marriage to Micheal Klapatauskas on June 19, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2011. Mike passed away on February 3, 2012. Lorraine was employed at a defense plant in Chicago and then the Farmer's Store in Greenwood. She also managed the Twin Oaks Apartments in Marshfield from 1989 until the present time. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, The Parish Council of Catholic Women, St. John's Conference of St. Vincent DePaul, The Lady Knights and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a faithful volunteer at St. John's Parish, St. Joseph's Hospital and waitress at the Knights of Columbus. She is survived by her children, Ray (LaVonne) Klapatauskas of Wausau, Donna (Vern) Vetterkind of Rothschild, and Diane (John) Pergolski of Wausau. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is further survived by 1 brother and 3 sisters, Bernard (Pat) Kitzhaber of Greenwood, Dolores Cornwell of St. Paul Park, MN, Peggy (Wally) Brey of Neillsville and JoAnn (Jim) Suda of Gurnee, IL; 2 sisters-in-law Mary Ellen Kitzhaber of Mosinee and Marge Klapatauskas of Withee; brother-in-law Julius Klapata uskas of Thorp. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters, Geneva Rogillio, Loretta Verhalen, and Catherine Deiler and 3 brothers, Ronald Kitzhaber, Ray "Bud" Kitzhaber and Elmer Kitzhaber in infancy; Memorials may be designated in her name to St. John's Parish, Marshfield Area Catholic Schools or the charity of the donor's choice.
