Lois A. E. Potts (nee Ewer) of Pittsville, Wisconsin passed away on June 25, 2021 at the age of 90.
Lois was a special lady to all who knew her, no matter how recent the acquaintance. Her independence, dignity and grace which served her so well through 18 years of battling leukemia became her gift to us in the end.
Lois was the only girl of five children born to Claude and Laura (Klusmann) Ewer. Her brothers were Harold, Roy, Charles and Arlan Ewer.
Lois attended the one-room Wallace School near the family farm and graduated from Pittsville High School in 1949. After earning her diploma from Wood County Normal School in 1951, she began her teaching career of 39 years at the area one-room schools. She married Virgil Potts in December 1951. Arthur was born in 1956 and Nellen in 1959. She began teaching at Pittsville Elementary School in 1960, where she eventually spent 33 rewarding years. Lois attended night classes, Saturdays and summer school at UW-Stevens Point earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1968. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, Lois and Virgil enjoyed spending time together until his death in June 2006. Always eager to conquer new challenges, she earned her motorcycle license shortly after her 60th birthday!
Lois was a life-long member of the Veedum Moravian Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was active in Women's Fellowship and spent a great deal of time volunteering for the church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, singing around the campfire, travelling to foreign countries, lunching with her "Red Hats Ladies" and "Normal Girls" and camping with her "Plus 50 Gang".
Lois is survived by her brother: Charles Ewer, her son: Arthur (Cathy) Potts and her daughter: Nellen (Chuck) Treutel, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
