Obituary

Lois J. Herkert, 84 of Marshfield died on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Savarimuthu Selvaraj and Deacon Ray Draeger, officiating. Dorothy Gehrke along with Sacred Heart Funeral Choir will provide the music for the service. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Wednesday at the church from 9:30am until service time. There will be a Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary service at 4pm Tuesday followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary service at 6:30pm both at Rembs Funeral Home. The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard will be present starting at 5:30pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Lois was born on November 21, 1930 in Marshfield to Harold and Elizabeth (Guns) Spencer. She attended St. John's Parochial School, and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1949, she then graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1952. On October 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to James E. Herkert at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield in a double wedding ceremony along with her sister Gloria and Donald Schnitzler. She worked at the Marshfield Clinic before joining St. Joseph's Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1994. Lois was an officer with the National Catholic Society of Foresters, 4-H Leader, enjoyed camping, crocheting, baking and decorating cakes and spending time with family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Christian Mothers Society. Lois is survived by her husband Jim, daughter-in-law Sharon Herkert (Steve) of Allen, TX, children Judy (Tony) Blattler of Phillips, Greg (Marion) Herkert of Marshfield, Mark (Janeen) Herkert of Marshfield, Peggy (Rob) Peterson of Marshfield, Theresa (Chris) Pritzl of Chippewa Falls, Lisa (Chris) Jurik of Waukesha, Patrick (Janet) Herkert of Marshfield, and James (Donna) Herkert of Oshkosh; 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; She is survived by her siblings Harold "Buck" (Jeanette) Spencer of Marshfield, Clement "Clem" (Heidi) Spencer of Gilbert, SC, Gloria (Donald) Schnitzler of Marshfield and Gladys (Alvin) Brock of Marshfield. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Steven and Harold and 2 brothers, James and Melvin Spencer. Memorials in her name will be designated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
