IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda L.
Nelson
April 20, 1952 – February 6, 2025
Linda Lou Nelson (72), of Arpin went to be with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her family in the early morning of February 6, 2025, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Crossroads Church, Pittsville, with Rev. David Bratlie officiating. The service will be livestreamed on Crossroads Church facebook page. A gathering for family and friends will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, February 17 at Crossroads Church. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the farm this summer on a date to be determined.
Linda was born on April 20th, 1952, to Charles and Sylvia (Smith) Newberry in the city of Wisconsin Rapids. She attended elementary school in Vesper and graduated from Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School in the spring of 1970. Shortly after, she met her future husband, Lawrence (Larry) Nelson and their first date was to the Sandhill Wildlife Refuge. She and Larry were married, as dad would say, "A couple years ago" on October 16, 1971.
Linda had a passion for helping other women feel their best, and attended college at the State College of Beauty Culture for a degree in Cosmetology. She truly enjoyed working at The Style Inn and eventually opened and owned her own salon, The New Creation Beauty Shop, to help other women feel as beautiful as they truly were.
She also worked at Bethel Living Center in the Kitchen and Activities department, at Connections caring for individuals with disabilities and as an independent caregiver. Linda had a heart of service, and her passion was helping others. Linda was a living definition of being a pillar in the community. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and she lived this belief through her involvement volunteering with Crossroads Church, as a 4H Leader for Pleasant Corners, ODC (Opportunity Development Centers), and the Pittsville Lions club supporting various activities including providing eye screenings for elementary students and organizing the American Red Cross blood drives.
Linda was a loving mother to two wonderful daughters, Julie (Rob) Strenn and Janet (Tadd) Schoenherr who blessed her with four grandchildren that earned her the best title yet… Gramma. Jeremy Schoenherr (Dara Stichert) , Bethany Strenn (Ryan Smith), Justin Schoenherr (Aria Marizza), and Ethan Strenn. When she wasn't at work caring for others, Linda was spending time instilling her compassionate heart of gold into these four grandchildren. She loved her Wednesdays off when the kids would come and play in the woods, fish in the pond, help in the garden, watch movies, and enjoy grandma's wonderful home cooking.
Linda is further survived by her sisters Ruth (Robert) Cline, Patty (Bill) Schulz, Kathy (Ron) Kremer, Jackie (Charlie) Vancil, and her sisters-in-law Judy Huber and Freda Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father in-law Alvin and Flora Nelson, brothers Jerry Newberry and two in infancy, sisters-in-law: Phylis Paitel, Betty A. Yerke, brothers-in-law: Donald Huber, Clarence Paitel, Eugene Yerke, and Jim Nelson and a special grandma - Grannie.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will be used for scholarships for youth to attend Arrowhead Bible Camp and the purchase of a vision eye screener to be donated to the Pittsville School District.
