Obituary

715-387-1242 Lillian M. Wechorek, 85, Marshfield, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Marshfield Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. James Logan officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Dana Scidmore, Dymond Zupanc, Tom Schneider, Judith Berg, John Berg, and Jack Bresnahan. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:30 am until service time at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Lillian was born on June 3, 1926 in Marshfield, the daughter of Hugo and Agnes (Bauer) Berg. She attended Neillsville and Marshfield schools and was a 1944 graduate of Marshfield High School. She met her husband Harold "Bud" at a New Years Eve party in 1949 and they were married on May 26, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He died on June 7, 2011 after sixty years of marriage. When she was younger Lillian was a telephone operator at the Marshfield Telephone Company which contributed to her severe hearing loss in her later years. While raising her children she worked numerous part time jobs to help support her family, including, J.C. Penneys, Woolworths, Clover Cream Dairy, the Patio restaurant, Avon, Figis, Columbus High School as a cook, and was co-owner of Mixed-Up Business Ceramics Shop with her daughter Kathy. Bud and Lill enjoyed spending retirement camping, playing bingo and volunteer work. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Timothy) Englebretson of Stratford, Nancy (James) Brost of Marshfield, Lynette Wechorek of Denver, CO, and Alan (Katherine) Wechorek of Auburndale. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Dana Scidmore, Kimberly Scidmore, Chelsea Zupanc, Kiel Ludke, and Adam Wechorek and by five great grandchildren, Dymond, Kadine, Jack, Kyra and Ashton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frederick (Vivian) Berg, and sisters, Evelyn (Frank) Maurer, Jane (Gary) Pilsner, Katherine (Harvey) Schneider and Gertrude (Victor) McKinley. The family would like to thank the friends and staff at Marshfield Care Center for the kindness and care that was given to Lillian for the past four years. Because Lillian and many of her family members endured years of dementia and Alzheimers, memorials may be designated to the Marshfield Area Respite Care Center, Marshfield to provide social and day care for participants and their care givers.
