Leone A. Berg, 97 of Marshfield, died on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at "The Peaks Senior Living Community", in the Ponderosa Pines of Flagstaff, Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Monday, October 6, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. Cindy Penker along with St. John's Funeral Choir will provide the music. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30am until service time at St. John's Catholic Church. Leone was born on July 27, 1917 in Eastman Wisconsin, to Joseph and Annie Shinko and graduated from college with a Bachelor's Degree in education. She taught at several different schools in South/Central Wisconsin until marrying her husband Leo and moving to Marshfield. She then taught at St. John's Catholic Church for several years before accepting a position in the public school system at Lincoln School. She taught there for many years until retiring at age 67 after over 40 years as a dedicated teaching professional. Leone enjoyed traveling with her husband Leo during her retirement years, and liked to say that she had visited all 50 states in the U.S. at one time or another. She was blessed with good health well into her early 90's and loved to walk long distances daily, when the weather cooperated. She is survived by two sons, Russell (Linda) Berg of Flagstaff, AZ, and Paul (Cindy) Berg of Peoria, AZ. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Karen Berg, and Suzi (Brett) Skaggs. She was the last of her family members to pass, and was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Annie Shinko, sisters, Clare, Chris, Jeane, and Mamie, and by her brother Tom.
