Herzberg on October 23, 1940 at St. John United Church of Christ in Arpin. They were married 64 years. Ella died on December 4, 2004. After their marriage the Grimm's purchased the Gay Vanden Bergan farm where he lived until his retirement in 1984. While farming he also hauled cans of milk to the Pittsville Creamery and Arpin Dairy. He sold his milk truck and route and went into the school bus business for 18 years, transporting children to Arpin and Auburndale schools. He also worked for the Town of Arpin as grader operator and drove dump truck. After his retirement from farming he bought a house in the Village of Arpin where he lived until April of 2011 when he went to assisted care. Leon served on the Arpin Town Board and was a charter member of the Arpin Lions Club and was a member of the National Farmers Union Association. He was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ in Arpin where he was baptized, confirmed, and married. He served as president of the church and on the church council for 16 years. He enjoyed going fishing and had a cottage at the Oxbow and then in Phillips. He also enjoyed attending New Glarus Swiss Festivals and Monroe Cheese Days and in his early years he liked to go out to North Dakota duck hunting.
