LaVerl M. Sydlo, 87, of Marshfield, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at her home.

There will be no public services per her request.

LaVerl was born June 4, 1936, in Arcadia, to Sigmund and Marion F. (Marx) (later Dillig) Sydlo. She spent her early years on the family farm in Arcadia, and later after they had moved, finished her education in Milwaukee.

She was a nurse for a long time in the Milwaukee area before moving to Marshfield to work at Norwood before retiring. LaVerl had become a professional coffee drinker during her career and preferred it "the hotter the better". As she aged and had become shaky, her hand was still and smooth when grasping a fresh hot mug. While she crocheted her whole life, following her retirement she also took delight in solitaire, and keeping up on Law & Order. Most of all she enjoyed her time with grandchildren and especially her little great-granddaughter.

She is survived by 5 children: Lanny Nord, Lynn Hammond, Franklin Shaffer, Brian Shaffer, and Arthur Shaffer. LaVerl is further survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

LaVerl is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Lavonne Wargin.
