Laura J. Koenig, 54 of Athens died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Funeral services will be at 11am Monday, February 16, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford with Pastor Sue Eidahl officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in the Village of Stratford. Visitations will be from 10am Monday at the church until time of services. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home in Stratford is assisting the family with the arrangements. Laura was born on December 15, 1960 in Lincoln, NE to Charles and Karen Sue (Hyman) Eno. She attended Wausau West High School and Mid State Technical College in Marshfield for two years. She was united in marriage to Todd O. Koenig on February 10, 1978 in Wausau. She and her husband during the late 80's and early 90's helped area farmers during difficult times. Throughout her life Laura possessed many positions from restaurant services to bookkeeping for area farm agencies. Laura and her husband farmed in the Stratford area until moving to Athens in 1990 where they continued to farm until the present time. Her life evolved around her husband, granddaughters, nieces and nephews, they truly were her joy and always brought a smile to her face. Her time with us was too short but she is now at peace and the memory of Laura will forever resonate with us all. She is survived by her husband Todd, daughter Kristi Oertel of Stratford, two granddaughters, Abbygail and Autumn both of Stratford. She is further survived by her parents, Charles and Karen Sue Eno, II of Wausau; grandfather Richard Hyman of Galveston, IN; a brother Charles (Beth) Eno, of Merrill and two sisters Joyce Eno of Wausau and Debra (Todd) Evers of Aniwa. Laura is preceded in death by a son-in-law Larry Oertel , her maternal grandmother Mary Hyman, paternal grandfather Leon Eno and paternal grandmother Leota Eno.
