Kenneth D. Heeg, 79, of the town of Richfield died the morning of Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

Per his request there will be no public services. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Ken was born November 1, 1946 in Marshfield to Lawrence and Irene (Arends) Heeg. The first of four children born to the couple, he attended local schools, graduating from Marshfield Senior High in 1964. On May 6, 1967 he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Meidl at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hewitt. He started farming in 1964 following the death of his grandfather. Ken enjoyed the simple things in life and was partial to hunting, fishing, and a good cattle sale.

Ken is lovingly survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley, four sons and a daughter: Brian (Sandee), Todd (Wendy), Vickie (Blu), Keith (Kim), and Aaron (Jenni). He is further survived by grandchildren Kati Andres, Alex & Ava Heeg; step-grandchildren Ashley, Brittany, and Tyler; 1 great-grandchild on the way, and 7 step-great-grandchildren; and siblings Tom Heeg, Mary Jo Newmier, and Steve Heeg.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence & Irene Heeg and his in-laws Alfred & Loretta Meidl.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Heartland Hospice, nurses Julie and Audra, aides Becky and Lynn, and social worker Julie, and Compassus nurse Deahlee for the loving care they all gave to Ken.
