Kenneth J. Brandl, 74, of Auburndale died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in the emergency room at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield as the result of an automobile/tractor accident. Mass of Christian Burial 11am Monday, November 18, 2013 with Fr. Eric Berns and Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Visitations will be from 4-8pm Sunday at the St. Mary's Church in Auburndale and again on Monday from 10am until service time at the church. Military rites will be conducted at the church following the Mass by the American Legion Post 468 of Milladore. He was born on September 19, 1939 in Marshfield to Walter and Ottillia (Weber) Brandl. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School through 10th grade and graduated from Auburndale High School in 1957. Ken enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guard and had his training in Texas. When he returned home, he began dairy/mink farming making him the 3rd generation of farmers. Harvesting crops was his passion but his retired hobbies included fishing, antiquing, hunting, playing sequence and buying his grandkids "two treats". His love of life, sense of humor and work ethic will be deeply missed. Ken was united in marriage to Frances E. "Franny" Dick on September 12, 1964 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield. Ken was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's and the Knights of Columbus Council #4646 of Junction City. He is survived by his wife Fran, children Rick Brandl of Wisconsin Rapids, Cabrini Gidget (partner Linda Macklem) Brandl of Mendota Heights, MN, Mike (Kathy) Brandl of Stevens Point, Maria Brandl of DeForest, Ana M. (Greg) Vandehey of DeForest, Craig (Jen) Brandl of DeForest and Vincent (Crystal) Brandl of DeForest; 13 grandchildren, Anika, Cabrini, Anja, Ben, Sumner, Alexandra, Reuben, Oliver, Caleb, McKenzie, Olivia, Natalie, Jonah and one expected in May 2014. He is further survived by two brothers, Donald (Diane) Brandl of Shawano and James (Lynda) Brandl of Minneapolis; one sister Marianne (Gerald) Frese of Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
