Obituary

Kay J. Henseler, 86, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Monday August 30th, 2021, at Well's Nature View under the care of St Croix Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. Father Douglas Robertson will officiate. Masks will be required for the visitation and service. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Kay was born July 9, 1935, in Marshfield to John F. and Isabel J. (Schmidt) Kirschner. She married Wally Henseler on June 4, 1955, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield. Together they raised five children. They lived their entire married life in Marshfield except for a few years from 1958 to 1960, when they lived in Oconomowoc, WI. Kay has missed Wally dearly, since his death on December 12, 2018. Kay worked as a Medical Assistant at the Marshfield Clinic from 1953 to 1958 and then again from 1960 until 1963. After her children became more independent, she started working at Kmart until 1997, when she retired. Kay was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church. She has very fond memories of spending a week every summer as a child on her grandparent's farm where she developed a fondness for pigs and honeybees. She has enjoyed gardening, rock and stamp collecting, photography, poetry, especially Robert Frost, writing letters, sharing baked goods with family and friends, feeding the birds and squirrels, camping, and traveling. She believed in helping others. She volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and raked leaves for Make a Difference Day. She also helped on a project establishing community gardens in Marshfield, and was a member of the Marshfield Parks and Recreation committee. She is survived by her children: Susan (Robert) Kult, Karen, Daniel Henseler all of Marshfield, Jennifer (Sidney) Brevard of Daphne, AL, and Julie Henseler of New Haven, CT. Kay is further survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, her sister Mary Gease of Caledonia, WI, her sister-in-law Marian Henseler, Marshfield, and many nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wally, her brother Jack, sister Hallie, sisters-in-law Audrey Kirschner, Mildred Hamel, Lucille Steltonpohl, and Eloise Henseler and brothers-in-law Arlen Gease, Norbert Hamel, Willard Steltonpohl, Richard and Harold Henseler. The family would like to thank the team at Wells Nature View and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care of Kay. Memorials for Kay may be sent to the Marshfield Habitat for Humanity and the Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.rembsfh.com
