Kathleen J. Shafer, 82, Pittsville, died on Monday, August 28, 2017 at her home. Kathleen was born on February 15, 1935 in Marshfield, to William and Rose Marie (Hauser) Nelson. She attended Marshfield schools and was a 1953 graduate of Colby High School. She then moved to Beloit, WI and graduated from Cosmetology College in Milwaukee. She married Robert E. Shafer on May 18, 1957 in Beloit. Katie was a loving mother of 4, grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 12. She is survived by her children, Jeff Shafer of Adams, WI, Susan (Howard) Haase of Janesville, Judi (John) Trites of Loves Park, IL and Karin Shafer of Pittsville, her grandchildren, Nicholas Porter, Christopher (Valerie) Porter, Matthew (Nina) Porter, Timothy (Rachel) Haase, Samantha (Mike) Haase, Michael Johnson and Melissa Trites and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, is assisting the family.
