Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” A. Rice, 72, Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Dana’s Tender Hearts Home, Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service.

Kathy was born on August 6, 1953 in Marshfield to Ernst and Berdeanne (Schultz) Krause. She was united in marriage to Kim Rice on August 9, 1997 in Marshfield.

Kathy worked as manager for the patient financial services department at Marshfield Clinic and as a tax preparer at Data Flow. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, going on cruises, and walking. She was also an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.

She is survived by her husband, Kim, children, Jessica (Jeff) Hansen, Neal (Jenny) Franz, Tanya (Nicholas) Sondelski, Rebecca (Daymon) Baker, stepchildren, Lindsey (Matt) Kesanen and Christopher Rice, grandchildren, Sydney Hansen, Connor Hansen, Destiny (Ryan) Allen, Devlyn Franz, Haley Franklin, Kylie Franklin, Austin Franz, Macy Sondelski, Ryleigh Sondelski, Kaiden Baker, Grace Kesanen, Clara Kesanen, and Sabastian Maloy, and great-grandchildren, Kai Maloy and Sage Allen.

She is further survived by her siblings, Nancy (Bob) Genack, James (Jane) Krause, Linda Reich, Dennis Krause, Susan (Jim) Kleinschmidt, Wilbur (Nettie) Krause, and Randy (Carol) Krause, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Berdeanne Krause, and stepmother, Shirley Graff.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS).

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dana Egner at Dana’s Tender Hearts Home for her wonderful care.
