Karen was born on May 5, 1948 in Marshfield, the daughter of Kenneth and Virginia (England) Mau. She was a 1966 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School and then earned an Associate's Degree. She had been employed in Insurance and billing throughout her career and most recently retired as the Insurance Billing Supervisor for Healthcare Business Services. Karen was diagnosed recently with cancer and battled courageously against difficult odds. She faced the fight with incredible strength and bravery. Karen was loved and admired by many for her positive outlook on life and uncompromising willingness to do for others. Her compassion and enthusiasm for so many of life's simple pleasures served as inspiration to family and friends alike, whether it be cheering for the Brewers, taking trips, gardening, baking, catching butterflies, bowling, or simply spending time with the ones she loved, she truly viewed life as a blessing and tried to live each day to the fullest. Although her time has passed and she will be missed greatly, the wonderful memories of time spent with Karen will live on in the hearts of those she touched forever. Karen is survived by her husband, John and her children, Callie (Rick) Hackel of Rice Lake, John Barclay of Marshfield, and Jenna (Jamie) Barclay of Tampa, FL. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Izzy, Tyler and Bradley Hackel and Daden Barclay, 3 stepchildren, Christie (Tino) Groppe, Ginny Ryczek and Lisa (Tim) Carter, 11 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She is further survived by 2 brothers, Larry (Jo) Mau of Atlanta, GA and Jerry (Kathy) Mau of Marshfield. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Wendy Mulligan and her first husband George Barclay. A special thank you also needs to be extended to her doctors and to St. Joseph's Hospital staff for their caring assistance and for allowing friends and family to make Karen's final days special.
