Joyce was born November 25, 1941, in Edgerton to Leonard & Florence (Helgestad) Horn.  Joyce grew up the 2nd oldest in a large family with eight siblings (Jerry, Johnny, Janice, Judi, Jackie, Joanne, James, & Julie).  Joyce attended Natwick School & graduated from Pittsville High School in 1959.

Joyce was united in marriage to Don Herzberg on October 3, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pittsville.  She worked in the Rapids Mill in her younger years.  She was then a stay-at-home mom as her children were young & growing up.  As their kids got older, she worked seasonally at Figi's in Marshfield & then later on at Ocean Spray in Babcock.

Joyce was an avid homemaker.  She would spend time in the garden & canning, sewing & making some clothes for the kids (& Stacey's dolls), & making homemade maple syrup every year.  Later she learned how to crochet and would spend her evenings making blankets as she watched TV.  Joyce also loved the outdoors.  She & Don have been snowmobilers since the late 1960s & active members of the Yellow River Riders Snowmobile Club (she served as secretary for a number of years).  Joyce also loved spending weekends during the summers camping & fishing.  She loved being up north with their good friends Hank & Angie, whether it was snowmobiling in the winters or fishing in the summers.  In 1998, Don & Joyce bought a Honda Goldwing and joined Chapter K where they met many great friends.  Joyce logged nearly 200,000 miles from the back of the bike, which took them on many beautiful trips all over the U.S. until Don's passing in 2010.

Joyce is survived by her children, Mike (Amy) Herzberg of Dexterville & Stacey (Paul) Hahn of Pittsville, her sisters Judi (Bill) Winch, Jackie (Russ) Henderson, & Julie (Dan) Vaughan, and her brother James (Olga) Horn, brother-in-law Bill (Bee) Herzberg, sister-in-law Sharon Dupee, special friend Bob Knoll, as well as many nieces and nephews.
