Obituary

Joseph H. Kaiser, 92, Stratford, died on Saturday, October 1, 2016 in the Emergency Room of Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethamanickam officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine and serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Jameson, Michael, Patrick and Robert Kaiser and nieces, Rose Silvera and Julie Eilers. The visitation will be held from 9:30 am on Thursday until service time at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 9:30 am on Thursday at the Church. Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, is assisting the family. Joseph was born on April 7, 1924 in the Town of Cleveland, Marathon County, to Matthias and Thecla (Wagner) Kaiser and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Parochial School, Stratford. He was united in marriage to Catherine L. Eilers on June 16, 1947 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Kaiser's farmed in the Town of Cleveland, and while farming, Joe also drove school bus for over 20 years. In addition, he and his uncle, Mark, built houses for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and served on the church council, was a reader, Eucharistic minister, and sang in the choir. He also served on the board for the Town of Cleveland as supervisor and town chairman. He had been active in various farm organizations including AMPI of which he served as a delegate. He enjoyed sports, playing softball for many years and golfing. Joe is survived by his wife, Catherine, and their 2 sons, Timothy (Catherine) Kaiser of Lac du Flambeau and their daughters, Tanya (Tom) Smejkal and Laura and her son Jacob; and Mark Kaiser (Deb) of Spencer and children, Jameson and his children Rebekah, Andrew and Mathew; Michael (Lisa) Kaiser and their children, Cody, Hunter, Erika and Adam; Patrick (Amanda) Kaiser and their children, Liam and Isabel; Robert (Missy) Kaiser and their son, Aiden; Devon (Troy) Griepentrog and their children, Chase and Skye; Derek Griepentrog; and Luke Griepentrog and his sons Gage and Leighton. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Edward (Dell) Kaiser of Appleton, Sister Mae Kaiser, FSPA of LaCrosse, Mildred (Tony) Eilers of Marshfield, Mark (Agnes) Kaiser of Stratford, Paul (Joan) Kaiser of Great Falls, MT, Carol (Gary) Watson of Corvallis, OR, and a brother-in-law, Richard Baierl of Marshfield. He was predeceased by his parents, and sisters, Sister Alice Kaiser and Sister Joanne Kaiser, a brother, Father Leonard Kaiser and a sister, Monica Baierl.
