Obituary

Joseph A. "Dago Joe" DiStasio, 69 of Stevens Point died peacefully holding his wifes hand and surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Ministry St. Michaels Hospital in Stevens Point. Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the AMVETS Post # 1051 of Stevens Point. Visitations will be from 4-8pm Wednesday at the Martens/Rembs Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 9am until time of the service. There will be an Elks Lodge # 641 of Sorrow Memorial service at 6:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Joe was born on October 28, 1941 in Chicago to Dean and Mary (Scavuzzo) DiStasio. After his education he enlisted in the United States Navy serving from October 17, 1960 until his honorable discharge on October 23, 1961. Joe worked with the Pipe Fitters Union Local 434 of Mosinee, retiring in 1990. In 1986, he purchased a tavern in Junction City and operated Dago Joes Tap for 25 years. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 1051 of Stevens Point and Elks Lodge # 641 of Stevens Point. He enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, pizza making at the bar, shaking dice with his buddies. He was united in marriage to Donna J. Moscinski on January 1, 2006 in Las Vegas. Besides his wife, Donna, he is survived by his mother Mary DiStasio of Orland Park, Il, son Anthony (Trista) DiStasio of Wisconsin Rapids, stepson Jesse (fiancйe Lindsey Adamski) of Boise, ID and a grandson Trevor DiStasio. Joe was preceded in death by his father, brother John and a sister Annette Landis. He will be missed greatly by his wife and family members.
