Joseph A. Cepress, 94, Arpin, died on Thursday, September 24, 2015.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church in Vesper, with Rev. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will take place in Arpin Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 153 of Pittsville. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville and on Tuesday from 9:30 am until service time at St. James Catholic Church.
Joseph was born on July 11, 1921 in Auburndale to Joseph A. and Anna (Singer) Cepress. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was united in marriage to June A. Stoflet Ebert on August 23, 1947 and they were married for 68 years. At a very young age he became self employed in the construction business and worked until the age of 82.
Joe was very active in the Arpin community and was a member of the Arpin American Legion, Lions Club, and Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, spending time in the woods, making maple syrup, making wood, and gatherings at the family "shack". He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, June and children, Joe A. (Sherry) Cepress of Kenosha, Jerry A. (Melodee) Cepress of Arpin, Jeff A. Cepress of Spencer, Jeanette A. (Ron Redmond) Cepress of Marshfield and John A. (Sue) Cepress of Arpin. He is also survived by grandsons, Joe IV, Mike, Tim, Jason, Marty, Josh, Aaron Cepress and Daniel Lieble, a step granddaughter, Tami and 5 great grandchildren and 1 expected soon.
He was predeceased by his parents, a son, James A. Cepress, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorials may be given to the family as they will use them to improve and maintain the chapel in Arpin Cemetery.
