Jon Edward Kolbeck, 73, of Anchorage, AK died Thursday, Jan. 16 He was born to the late Jack and Marcella Kolbeck, June 09, 1940, in Marshfield, WI. He moved to Anchorage Alaska in 1963. He married the late Eileen Dillinger Nov. 23, 1966. Jon had a zest for life that was contagious. His true passion was snow machining, which he enjoyed doing every weekend until he retired, then enjoyed "going up" during the week. He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage, golfing, and riding his Harley. One of the highlights of his week was going to Gallo's on Monday nights with a bunch of his friends. He loved going on adventures; his most recent was a road trip on his Harley with his buddies to Sturgis. Jon fished and hunted for many years and always had great stories to tell about his escapades. He was an excellent story teller. Meeting new people was never a challenge for him because he loved to socialize. Jon worked as a Heavy Equipment Master Mechanic from 1963 until his retirement in 2000. Jon is survived by one child: Kathy (John) Swaw of Tacoma, WA; one brother Ronald (Helen) Kolbeck of Anchorage, one sister Kerene Stauss of Marshfield, WI; two grandchildren Tayla and Tiffany Swaw of Tacoma, WA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm Thursday Jan. 23rd at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 3900 Wisconsin St. Anchorage, AK 99517. Gathering at the church Lunney Center to follow. Burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield at a later date.
